Long before they garnished organic stores and health-conscious kitchens, we grew organic mulberries on their native soil, dried them and brought them to foreign markets.

- For us, dried mulberries are not about commodities and consumers – they are about family, ancestral traditions and an enduring relationship with the land. We began our organic mulberry project in 1994 with the native mulberry trees of southeastern Turkey.

- Benefits of Dried Mulberries
- Why have mulberries been called superfruits? Because it is hard to find a fruit that packs as many health benefits with as few drawbacks, and in such a tiny body, to boot. Concern has grown in recent years over sugar consumption and fruits have at times been approached with caution - not so with mulberries. Although their taste is sweet, their sugar content is less than half of that of raisins, and well below that of other dried fruits. Mulberries make it possible to enjoy a sweet treat without the fear of sudden surges in blood sugar and insulin levels.
- Mulberries are exceptionally high in antioxidants, in particular vitamin C and phenolic compounds such as anthocyanins and resveratrol. Vitamin C is well known for its ability to support immune system function, while anthocyanins protect the body against inflammation and diseases related to oxidative stress such as cancer and heart disease. Mulberries also contain resveratrol, the same powerful antioxidant present in red wine, which can help preserve cells from the damage caused by aging.
- A surprising feature of mulberries is their protein content. A serving of 100g of dried mulberries provides 43 calories and is about 12% protein, which makes them a significantly greater source of protein than other berries. The combination of protein and fiber content in mulberries generates a feeling of satiety which makes them both nutritious and filling snacks. The fiber in mulberries can also help regulate digestive function and protect the colon from disease.
- How to Use Dried Mulberries
- Mulberries can be eaten in a variety of ways. Their sweet taste and chewy texture makes them enjoyable snacks straight out of the bag, but they also pair particularly well with cereal and yogurt for breakfast, with nuts in trail mixes, and with greens in salads. They also bring a distinguished flavor to baked goods. They can be incorporated in muffin or biscuit recipes either by being ground or soaked in water and reconstituted beforehand.
